Supporters Council Elects First Female Chair
Today the Stoke City Supporters Council elected it’s first female chairperson in life-long supporter Angela Smith.
Angela defeated outgoing Chairman Malcolm Clarke in a straight vote between the two. Malcolm Clarke, who is Chair of the Football Supporters Federation had held the post since the Council’s inception and now takes up the Vice-Chair role.
Angela who took up the post immediately following the vote during today’s Supporters Council meeting, will serve as Chair over the next twelve months and has become the first female to hold such a position on a Stoke supporters body. Known around the club as a stalwart fan and has worked with the club as far away as China, Angela has represented the overseas supporters for many years and served on both the Supporters Council as Vice-Chair and it’s predecessor, The Fans’ Forum.
Former squash world champion Angela, who travels from Tenerife for every match, continues to be an ambassador worldwide for her sporting achievements and has been voted both local Sports Personality of the Year and inducted into the Sporting Hall of Fame.
